Hot tub time machine
The older you get things do start to make sense. But older does not imply age years. When I say older it means is thought. I’ve met 30 year olds that act 15 and 12 year olds that think as if they are 35. It’s an odd thing but true.
Personally I feel as if I’ve aged faster than typical for a 21 year old.
Carrying on their days with out a care. Going where the wind blows so to speak. That’s how most my age live.
Running around chasing after chicks and Booze. Smoking indoor cigs cuz it’s cool and getting high to feel less low. They say go to school get good grades but most just party.
I’ve had my fair share of Booze, pot and sloots. Don’t get me wrong I know and love to party. But when that becomes your life you begin to live like a clown.
What you live that life to chase bitches? To wake up not remembering the day, then smoke to get the hangover away? What for? Miss class, refuse to apply yourself and all for what to live a life with no challenge? Purpose? Direction?
Sorry bro that’s a hard pass for me.
Lately I’ve had this mindset of if it isn’t worth my time I’m not doing it. To me Time=money. So if I’m doing anything I’m going to invest my time in either myself or going out getting money.
If you want your life to change; YOU have to change
Just as professional athletes make certain choices to keep them at their game. Everybody has the choice to eat fast food, drink, smoke, ruin themselves. It’s easy too and that’s why so many people fall to their own bad decisions. But athletes are interesting because of the things they choose not to do.
It isn't always doing something, but situations where you choose not to do something that counts. You have the option to go to the bar tonight, but will you sit In and read a book to get a head. Yea smoking pot is fun but is it worth losing your only well paying job right now.
Make the choices to grow. Stop making the choices that ruin you. Take your emotions out of life and reflect objectively on your choices. Are you doing what you can to grow? Or are you doing things that hold you back? Or maybe you haven’t thought about it at all and now you’re saying “oh fuck, what am I doing”.
Life takes reflection. Think about the things you do; the people you surround yourself with; the word you choose to use; the substance you allow into your body; the media you consume. You are a sum of your environment. If you don’t particularly like what you see maybe it’s time for a change.
It came to a point in life where I realized that I no longer want to be ordinary. Go to school? For what, to get trained to join the workforce. Save your money then blow it over the weekend when we go to the bar. For what? To only feel strapped and repeat the same never ending cycle.
People get sucked into the cycle of; Go to school, get good grades, get a good job, save money, pay your bills; then people believe that this is life and that life consists of making money to pay bills. To work. Fuck that. Then the spend their money on Booze and shit because life isn’t as satisfying as they thought.
Apparently that’s how most want you to live too. Once you begin to change your own narrative others will complain and shout. Try to knock you down and tell you for what? Just get a job and make some money. FUCK THAT. I don’t want to be ordinary, work for someone else. Have an unproductive life where I look forward to the weekend.
I want to wake up each day excited to live my life!!! Freedom to spend time how I want and spend my time with the people I choose. Not in a fucking cubical doing work for someone else, just to get a piece of paper that isn’t worth its own weight in gold.
How will I do that you may ask? Betting on the things that are worth it. Surrounding myself with growth minded individuals. Treating my body how it deserves to be treated. Treating myself how I deserve to be treated. And removing all that does not agree.
If you want to be different, you have to act different. If you want change, you have to be the change.
I’m sitting in my hot tub right now just thinking about how at 21 years old I’m thinking about life at 40- 50 and don’t want to waste a second now because I don’t want to play catch up later. .... at the same time... I want to make sure I live now.
Conscious of the past, grounded in the present; and what happens next is solely in my hands. I just have to make the right choice.
